Classes and Workshops
Come take a class with us at the Cockayne Farmstead! We love to pass on heritage skills that foster creativity and create community. Whether you’re a beginner or a pro, we’d love to teach you something new. New classes are organized and announced each season. If you’d like to receive updates about new classes, send us an email at cockaynehouse@gmail.com to be put on our list.
All classes have a limited number of spots and spaces must be reserved and paid for in advance. Marshall County Historical Society members receive discounts on class registration costs.
Appalachian Fiber Arts Workshop Series
Discover the time-honored heritage of Appalachian fiber arts in this unique, 5-part intergenerational workshop series. Designed especially for pairs or trios—parents, grandparents, and children—you will learn side-by-side to reclaim lost skills and craft something truly special. All classes are designed for beginners, no previous experience necessary!
Take the full journey to create a finished piece entirely with your own hands, or drop in for individual workshops to learn a specific skill!
This project is made possible by Mid Atlantic Arts’ Central Appalachia Living Traditions program.
